Spring Summer 2006

My fair lady like pieces with a strong Victorian Flair seem to be the hottest trend for SS06. Designers like John Galliano, Behnaz Sarafpour and Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein stuck with soft lush fabrics like Chiffon and Organza to create uber fem looks. To incorporate the trend into your closer I say stick with extremely soft fabrics and lots of lace that hug tight to your body. In soft colors like rose, ivory, sage and of course white.

Wide Belts are also key for SS06. This one is by Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi. Belts like these can be extremely cute with soft floral dresses but could look disaterous with pants if the proportions aren't just right! The belts are supposed to accentuate your waist not make them seem nonexistent so be careful and try them on before buying! Make sure it fits perfectly and not too big.

Prints Prints Prints where everywhere on the SS06 runways Especially in the Gucci show. Word to the wise pick prints that suit your body! As much as I love Pucci I cannot stand a petite woman hiding her curves under big bold prints.

Frida Giannini on Gucci:The first step was to bring in a sense of joy, because I really feel that optimism is part of our lives, and of my personality, my vision. I felt we needed to play a little bit with prints. Some are from the archives, some were totally new, with a few very solid, very strong colors.

There was no color on the runway this season. Black and White seem to be the hottest colors, but soda pop green and hot pink were'nt far behind. Over all The shows were fabulous. Especially Valentinos. Ciao, Love Mimi
