Valentino: The Last Emperor

We recently went to the private screening of "Valentino: The Last Emperor", produced and directed by Matt Tyrnauer. The movie surpassed our expectations. It was beautiful, inspirational and most of all enjoyable. The movie filed down the hard edges we usually associate with fashion. The movie is already a huge successes, it snagged the Gold Hugo for Best Documentary at the Chicago International Film Festival recently and has won the hearts of everyone who has viewed it so far. Park Avenue Fashion Week

Do you have what it takes to be the next up and coming clothing designer?

Park Avenue Fashion Week 08 (PAFW08) is having an Emerging Local Designer Contest where five lucky finalists will be chosen to show their collections at the 2008 Park Avenue Fashion Week , held November 8-13, 2008 in dowtown Winter Park.

As Winter Park and Central Florida’s fashion community continues to grow, PAFW08 will showcase not only its exclusive Park Avenue and Hannibel Square retailers for Winter Park Fashion Week but also the designs of five local, talented designers.

Contestants must be a resident of Central Florida, submit two completed pieces, a biography, and a description of their collection. A panel of judges made up of local “celebrities” will choose the five (5) finalists who will then have 2 months to complete their collection of 10 looks.

The five finalists will receive:
10-minute runway show inside the tents at Park Avenue Fashion Week
3 VIP passes for family and friends
A mini-documentary created on how they got into the design world and about their collection.
A chance to sell their line at one of Park Avenue and Hannibel Square’s boutiques.
Exposure to buyers from boutiques up the East Coast
A feature on the PAFW website and Orange Appeal Magazine
Exposure through PAFW media coverage

The deadline for entries is August 15, 2008 at 4 pm. They can be dropped off or shipped to Shou’Ture, 339 Park Avenue South, Winter Park, Fl 32789. The finalists will be announced on September 1, 2008. Finalists will have until November 6, 2008 to complete their collections.
