Day To Night | Transitioning Style From Day To Night Featuring Boston Proper

I can always count on Boston Proper for sexy basics and also THAT show stopping piece. The featured styles are my latest must haves from BP. I love the 3/4 sleeve sheath that fits like a glove and still looks sophisticated. it is perfect for lunch meetings as well as a long day at an office (although I have no idea what that's like). I also adore the fabulous embellished tunic. It is definitely the type of piece you pull out when you want o make a statement. Perfect for drinks with the girls or a fabulous bash. HM STYLE | 5 Must Have Wardrobe Staples

I received an email from a reader asking me about what my five must-haves are. I really have to be honest and say that it is incredibly hard for me to pick just five but I have managed to do so. I believe these five pieces are the perfect bones to any wardrobe, well a glamorous one. Enjoy.

The Little Black Dress

I suggest this Hervé Léger Scoop back bandage dress. It is definitely an investment as you can wear it to work, a party, or even a funeral. Dress it up with heels dress it down with ballet flats. I personally wear all of my little black dresses with big bold statement making jewelry and shoes. Like Coco Chanel said, once you find the perfect little black dress, there is nothing you will want to wear in it's place.

White Jeans

Forget that dated rule of no white after Labor day. White is in fact a great alternative to black and looks fabulous when paired with any color. White jeans look crisp and sharp no matter what time of year. as far as shoes go pair them with either a natural color pump or if you're going for a more dressy look, gold heels are in call. Jeans featured are J Brand.

Gold Heels
Gold heels go with everything. From your party dresses, to jeans to lingerie. I personally like a very high heel but gold kitten heels also look very chic. Jimmy Choo Flynn sandals are just fantastically sexy.

Chain Link Bag
Chainlink is lady like and classy. Two things that describe us. I would go with either a camel or black for starters then buy some fun styles like the Miu Miu stage bag and the bright pink Marc Jacobs style we have featured in the past. The featured bag is by Lanvin and it is in fact, golden.

Classic Coat
If there is one thing you should spend on, it should be your coat. Stick to sophisticated black or camel and even charcoal is great. Coats that hit right under the knee are the most versatile and make sure it's warm and cozy. I stay away from shearling, I think it looks horrid. The coat featured is by Stella McCartney.

MENS FASHION | Spindle & Canister: Getting The Basics Right

As dichotomous as it may sound, the truth is that it is often the most basic of designs that are the hardest to perfect. A garment as simple as a blue t-shirt can be used to create a larger array of outfits and looks than one would first give thought to. By contrast, when deciding on how to build an outfit, a visually complex and detailed t-shirt is oddly the more restrictive option when it comes to one's own creative freedom. As such, making sure that one's basic garments are of a high quality is essential to building a wardrobe that is fully functional and stylish.

The above pieces are from the debut Spring/Summer '09 collection of Spindle & Canister, created by Los Angeles based designer, Temitayo Abidoye. Seeking to create classically inspired pieces that would fit seamlessly and comfortably into the modern man's wardrobe, Abidoye paid careful attention to getting the hard basics correct in order to create a line of investment worthy pieces.

The use of quality fabrics including jersey, thermal and cashmere provide a luxurious warmth and comfort to the collection. Indeed a combination of comfort and function is also realised in Abidoye's employment of pre-shrunken and softened fabrics. The idea behind this decision was that the clothing retains a consistent quality and fit, a functional detail, which in itself, makes the collection the more so appealing. Not only does one note the pre-shrunken fabrics, however the smaller details such as the worn buttons create a more coherent look to the pieces. The slimmer, more fitted profile of the garments, which flatter the wearer and also manage to provide a more modern silhouette means that any Spindle & Canister garment would make a perfect addition to any man's wardrobe.

How To Shop At Forever21

I can't stand shopping in store at Forever21. too many clothes, too many colors, and way too many shoppers. There is no room to breathe nor think. But, I love the clothes none the less and adore the online store. Always up to the minute, Forever21 is where I go to stock up on things I know won't last but just have to have. There are several things to keep in mind while shopping at Forever21 or any high street store.

Things To Keep In Mind:
  • When in doubt, buy black. Any other color will look cheap, believe me.

  • Don't buy a garment that already has any lose threads or any type of damage. If it can't hold up on the rack it definitely will not hold up after a wild night out.

  • With that in mind remember that these garments won't last for more than two seasons.

  • Look for the right fabrics, try to find cottons, silks and merino wools. They're the most comfortable fabrics and look much better than their artificial counterparts.

  • Stock up on costume jewelry. They have a great selection.
