Milan Fashion Week: Dolce & Gabbana

Reverting back to the classic glitz of old Hollywood, Dolce & Gabbana mixed modern and classic at Milan Fashion Week this year.
I love the emphasis that was made on shape and the focus on specifics such as the shoulders and the waist.
Large head accessories were also prevalent and although definitely not the most colorful show, I still felt that the dark shades fit very well with their portrayal in the classic look. Further good use of texture nixed in with the focus on details

Milan Fashion Week Giorgio Armani AW09

The maestro Giorgio Armani produced a stunning collection. Power dressing was back albeit on a softened way exquisite tailoring, wide belts, berets, and fiery red lipstick were de rigeur. Colours shown are classic black and grey.

Personal Stylist choice is the sparkly evening wear, wide patent leather belts, and great bags. Black opaques were again on display and to offset the credit crunch hem lines were high above the knee.

Providing a lesson in style are one button jackets, slim, fitted and gently flared at the waist, a look to flatter and softly drape that is more feminine than the big boyfriend jacket.

Milan Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum RTW 9/10

This season Christopher Bailey experimented with 'Great British Icons' as his theme, working with silk chiffon dresses with the thinnest fabrics to ensure 'waif-like' essence. Staying with Burberry's trademark colours, beige, brown and cream the gauzy dresses were clinched at the waist and paired with suede coats and fur lining. Of course the iconic trench coat was filtered into the collection boasting large pleats and coming in a range of autumn colours.


The ankle socks and heels were replaced with bulky tights and laced platforms, white shirts were giving a modern twist with matching kilts. The music? Duffy, a perfect choice for such a collected and late night glamourous feel. Unlike Marc Jacobs there wasn't a feeling of livening up the grim atmosphere, instead Baily chose to take the credit crunch in his stride and provide us with a appropriate and classic collection which is sure to be a sell out.
