Interview with Tarina Tarantino

We love Tarina Tarantino here at Haute Mimi for her dazzling jewelry and of course the pink hair. With a strong sense of self Tarina has put a touch of glamour to the accessories industry creating unique and girly designs that every woman from three to eighty would delight in. Here is what Tarina had to say about style.

HM: Describe your style in one word.
TT: Girlie.

HM: What is your best-kept fashion secret?
TT: The recipe to my signature fuchsia hair color. Which will remain a secret.

HM: Where is your favorite place to shop for jewelry?
TT: For vintage pieces I shop online, otherwise I only wear my own.

HM: Who is your style icon?
TT: Barbara Hulanicki of the original Biba. And I got to meet her which was heaven.

HM: What is the biggest fashion mistake a woman can make when it comes to accessorizing?
TT: Playing it too safe. It's boring.

HM: What is one lesson you are grateful for learning throughout your career in fashion?
TT: To take risks that feel right. Not to be afraid.

HM: What advice would you give to young accessories designers trying to make their fame?
TT: To make sure you are bringing something completely unique to the marketplace with a strong point of view. There are so many people trying to do what someone already did. It is challenging to make a name for yourself in accessories so you have to be more creative and clever about marketing your products.

HM:If you could give women a fashion tip to be fabulous what would it be?
TT:Never leave the house looking like you just rolled out of bed. Make the world a more beautiful place and comb your hair and put on some lipgloss. If you don’t have time for eye makeup throw on some sexy sunglasses and hide.

I have a fatal attraction to anything cute and that is why I love everything this woman makes. she's a big fan of Hello Kitty and a lot of her designs remind me of something girls in the Harajuku district would flaunt. Tarina inspires my costume jewelery collection and so does Barbie. She's always been a fashion inspiration to me believe it or not. There is something so awfully fantastic about Barbie that I love to emulate. So what's more perfect than the Barbie collection at Tarina Tarantino?

So you can see why i love Tarina. She knows how to do Lolita's innocence with a touch of glamour. This is a great look for soirees and I'm loving the bright nail polish.Notice the phone charm and the flower hair pin. Two gorgeous pieces that are insanely cute!
