Carine Roitfeld by Vanessa Lee

Carine Roitfeld the editor-in-chief of French Vogue’s career began when she was 18 years old, after being scouted in Paris by a photographer’s assistant. However her modelling did not take off and she began writing at French ELLE. It was then she decided that styling was something of an interest for her and she began freelance styling as-well as working as the stylist for ELLE.
Carine met the famous Mario Testino during a children’s fashion shoot for Italian Vogue Bambini which included her daughter Julia Restoin Roitfeld as a model and began to make important contacts of which she would keep for many years to come. Working more closely with Testino, they became a pair doing advertising and spreads for French and American Vogue, of which helped both of them to grab the attention of the industry for their eye for style.
Carine was then offered the position as a consultant and part-time muse for Tom Ford whilst he reined at Gucci, then Yves Saint Laurent for several years. Finally she was approached by Conde Nast’s international Chairman Jonathan Newhouse to become the editor-in-chief of French Vogue in 2001.
Through her career she contributed to styling the images of Gucci, Missoni and Versace as-well as giving her endless support to unknown labels and new trends. Once accepting the role, Carines management of the magazine proved quite the success improving sales and number of readers increasingly. For years there have been rumours of a rift between fellow Editor-in-chief of Vogue Anna Wintour however Carine was quick to disagree and has been seen frequently with Anna at past events. fter 7 years as the Editor of one of the most exclusive magazines in the business, she is still as successful as ever, all while wearing Balmain.

Interview with Suze Editor at Large of Fashion for GLAMOUR

Every fashionista knows Suze Yalof Schwartz, Glamour’s executive fashion editor at large. Whether she's behind the scenes the glossy Glamour covers or on GMA. We absolutely adore her here at Haute Mimi and we had a fabulous opportunity to get a taste of her amazing style. She is definitely one of Mimi's favorite Glamour girls.

Describe your style in one word.
Fickle: I change it all the time

What is your best-kept fashion secret?
I don’t keep secrets – I share them with you on my blog – but my favorite fashion trick is skin tone shoes when wearing skirts and dresses. Always match your shoes to your skin – it makes your legs look longer.

What are the five fashion essentials every woman should have in her closet?
1. A white shirt
2. High heel sling back pumps that expose toe cleavage and match your skin tone
3. A camel-colored pencil skirt
4. The perfect work dress
5. A black cocktail dress

Who is your style icon?
Living: Candy Pratts Price, Carine Roitfeld, Elizabeth Saltzman WalkerDeceased: Diana Vreeland, Jackie O, Babe Paley

What is the biggest fashion mistake a woman can make?
Leaving the house looking like a slob. You never know who you will bump into.

What is your favorite outfit?
Haven’t found it yet but I am still looking

What is your favorite way to accessorize?
Wide elasticized belt, or tons of cuffs, or huge earrings, or piled on beaded necklaces. Never all together.

If you could give women a fashion tip to be fabulous what would it be?
Feeling fabulous is 99% confidence and 1% lip-gloss. Always take 5 minutes to add make-up or an extra accessory that doesn’t have to be there.
