My favourite part of every season is checking Vogue's pick of the best trends to work with. This season is all about repeats and we're still in love with 80s style.

• The Footwear: Ankle boots - heeled: wedged or stilettos. Unless you dare to wear waders.


• The Dress: Forties-inspired and belted.


• The Coat: A big statement, the shaggier the better.


• The Length: It's not recession long yet - you can still show a little leg.


• The Trouser: Nappy pants are still in - or go tight and in leather if you dare.


• The Erogenous Zone: Tone up those arms and invest in some thermals - you're going sleeveless next winter.


• The Must-Have: Something, anything, with pronounced shoulders.


• The Colour: Black. If not black, then black. And if you really can't bear to, then pink - or red and black together.

Louis Vuitton RTW 2009

One of the most anticipated shows of Paris Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs didn't cease to shock us. The collection was a beautiful collaboration of parisian chic mixed with Harlequin-esque inspirations. Bunny ears clapped onto the heads of Lily, Freja, Sacha and the shoes were ballet style black platforms. The clothes were art in their own right, with beautifully pale pink dresses with deep folds, lace bodice cut dresses mixed with ribbons for a feminine effect. The collection was subtle, a nod at pastoral times and yet a sexy feel left the front row dazzled by the line. Marc Jacobs clearly felt this isn't the season to mourn, its the season to flaunt.

NINA RICCI AUTUMN WINTER 09 PARIS

Stunning! Creative, elegant, beautiful,geometric silhouettes in black, red, turquoise. Romantic ruffles abounded ,metallic fabrics to encase the body in a shimmering carapace. This was a masterful collection to covet.

Fun flamenco dresses were sexy, and romantic, dance with your Latin lover and inspire passion in sizzling red.

Flirty, short pink mini dresses body hugging with satin and lycra worn with black opaques this is a clubbing or cocktail ensemble to stop the traffic. Oliver Theyskens has proven he is a extraordinary talent.

London Fashion Week FW09: Mary Katrantzou

Greek- born designer Mary Katrantzou is one of the new names in the LFW show schedule but not in the fashion industry: since her collection A/W 2008 following the MA at Central Saint Martins, she has already got a lot of attention on her and after this first amazing show we can see why. Trompe l’oeil digital effect prints inspired by perfume bottles: the choice already invokes the sinuosity of the woman’s body…the dress is the print…the print is the dress. The colours are bright and sharp, the graphics oversized and enlarged, but because the dresses themselves are simple in shape, nothing goes overboard. And as Coco Chanel said “A Woman that does not wear perfume has no future”, we think Mary will have a great one. Click here for more info.
