First Lady Style | How To Dress Ladylike

I am always impressed whenever I see a photo of Jackie O. She looks so effortlessly chic and ladylike. I guess immaculate hair, natural makeup and classic pieces stretch far and wide when it comes to style. I also believe that you too can achieve this look by stocking up on classic must-haves to achieve a fabulous pulled together look in a flash.

It's Time To Get A Watch I grew up in an era of cell-phones as most of you have, hence I never really cared for watches since I could simply look at my phone. But there is something very chic about a classic gold or silver men's style watch. Match your watch to your jewelry, if you wear mostly platinum or silver stick to those tones and the same goes for gold jewelry fanatics like myself. I adore Marc Jacob's line of watches. A Shaded View Sunglasses come in very handy on those days when you cannot be bothered to put on makeup but still want to look polished. I prefer large, black plastic sunglasses as they offer more mystery and are very Jackie O-esque. On a quick stop to the Chanel boutique last week I found these gorgeous new shades with little pearls on either sides, they are a must have and will become a seasonless classic. Sunglasses, Chanel.
Dress It Up Sheath dresses are definitely in call for ladylike dressing. I often opt for dresses as they are just very easy to throw on and with great heels and accessories you are good to go. I was very surprised by how modern and youthful Ann Taylor has become. I recently passed by the boutique and was seriously enticed by their new Spring display and picked up a few merino cardigans and sheaths for a steal. Dress, Ann Taylor. -HM

Marc Jacobs NY Fashion Week AW2010 | Fall Winter 2010 New york Fashion Week

Marc Jacobs wowed New York with a simple elegant collection. However, I am not so keen on socks with shoes to my eye looks wrong.

This is immensely flattering, sparingly cut tailoring. Lovely, Spartan greys will warm winter skies.

This however is not flattering. As a Personal Stylist when you make tall, slim models look short and fat my clients won’t buy it and neither would I. A Line skirts mid calf lengths all serve to round out the body not a good look ever for anyone under 5`10”.

New York like London has been freezing and so once again furs and velvets dominate the collections.We need to be warm.

To finish the show, long glittering evening gowns in silver, yellow and ecru. Delicious.

Marc Jacobs excels again! After Saturdays all day rain we all need cheering up look at these fantastic clothes. Grecian drapery in soft cobalt blue. Gilded gold sandals. St Tropez Mmmm.


Sophisticated sundresses with sex appeal in canary yellow to match the searing sun. Look at that gorgeous must have clutch.

This is a spirited collection. I want these amazing glasses and the bikini as well chic, elegant and sexy.

Exquisite soft white to set off your tan, draped halterneck with split thighs. Another fantastic little bag. The demise of the monster unflattering “IT” big bag at last?? I have always thought small petite women looked ridiculous. See the latest Chanel Ad the bag is almost bigger than the woman!

This is a collection I want to go out and buy straight away. Wearable chic. In cold London I long to be on a beach- preferably St Tropez in these clothes!

Achingly chic the bag, dress, great shoe boots, and bag. Maybe boots too hot but not for London!

Chain-Link Reaction | New Handbags Via Lanvin & Marc Jacobs

Chain-link has been a huge trend in handbags for a few seasons now but it is definitely classic and timeless. Designers are churning out some of the most gorgeous chain-link bags this season so it's not a bad idea to buy now and wear forever. I adore both of these handbags. The first being Lanvin's Happy Sac Partage shoulder bag which is just beautiful and chic and will wear well with anything. Beauty Buzz | LOLA A New Scent By Marc Jacobs

Last week, I received the preview bottle of Marc's latest scent, Lola. I expected something fresh, young and airy, like Daisy but to my surprise Lola smells very exotic. To me, it smells of pears and Moroccan rose oil. he actual notes include, pink peppercorn, pear d’anjou, ruby red grapefruit, fuchsia peony, rose, geranium, vanilla, tonka bean and creamy musk It's a fabulous scent for evening. The fragrance is available exclusively at Bloomingdales for now and will be widely distributed in Mid-August. Buy your bottle here.

Louis Vuitton RTW 2009

One of the most anticipated shows of Paris Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs didn't cease to shock us. The collection was a beautiful collaboration of parisian chic mixed with Harlequin-esque inspirations. Bunny ears clapped onto the heads of Lily, Freja, Sacha and the shoes were ballet style black platforms. The clothes were art in their own right, with beautifully pale pink dresses with deep folds, lace bodice cut dresses mixed with ribbons for a feminine effect. The collection was subtle, a nod at pastoral times and yet a sexy feel left the front row dazzled by the line. Marc Jacobs clearly felt this isn't the season to mourn, its the season to flaunt.

Spring 2009 Trends

The new silhouette this season starts from the shoulders, the hugely prominent big shoulders provide a revival to the 80's. For SS 09 shoulders are going to be authoritative, tailored and self-confident.
Also big in 09 are tropical colours, wonderful pistachio, lime, papaya, lemon, kingfisher blue, also lots of nudes as well, neutral is everywhere. These particularly suit fair and redheaded people. Prints abound, wonderful parrot prints from Peter Pilotto, big polka dots. Look too for ruffles and bows and softer gothic lace to create a more feminine feel.
The look is unmistakeable and is seen in up-to- date women business suits, also carried over into blouses, little squared dresses, jackets, and even the humble t- shirt has built-in shoulder pads. Jeans are ripped or embroidered.
For a cheap, chic update, slide a pair of detachable shoulder pads into a cardi or coat. Combine the boxy jacket with new peg trousers, cigarette pants or capri pants. Short suits featuring sexy hot pants combined with a jacket, are another tribute to the 80’s.Jumpsuits are figure hugging in slinky jersey, bright colours, and leopard prints.

And if you’re going for it, remember that this look needs 100 per cent commitment. Finally to make this look really work, you should add retro accessories or better still rolled up sleeves for a genuinely 80’s feel! Look for scarf type belts, bug glasses and huge chunky and chandelier earrings.
Dresses have shoulder pads, many have embroidery and embellishments, look for simple shifts in bright tropical colours. Skirts are pencil or tulip shaped to complement large double breasted blazers. -Gabrielle Teare

The motorcycle jacket isn’t just for bikers nowadays. Thanks to fashion designers, their modern refinement to such a tough jacket makes it stylish for all to wear. While you may never have considered owning a moto jacket, you might just change your mind.

Of course it had to be Alexander McQueen to turn me onto the moto jacket. Rest assured, there are many fantastic versions out there in every price range - making it easy for most everyone to pull it off. Personally, I love pulling other edgy pieces together with the jacket, such as the boots and jeans, while softening the look a bit with the scarf and handbag. The black hoops are the happy medium. See, the moto jacket isn’t so far fetched.

At the heart of it all is the fashion district. With banners announcing your arrival, the atmosphere begins to change evoking creativity. The bustle of the city is present as design, marketing, and sales are the components that drive this district. Its no wonder why every designer has an office here.

There's no doubt that fashion has made an impact here in this great city. New designers emerge daily, introducing the latest. Hands down! This city is the greatest! There's no place like it! So to you New York City, I applaud you! Bravo!

Each day when the sun rises, it marks another day in which the Beckham’s further endow their presence in the fashion world. During a visit to Brazil to setup his next academy project, David was spotted wearing what seemed to be his naked wife on a grey T-shirt with the slogan, ‘PROTECT THE SKIN YOU’RE IN’ across her body. Victoria Beckham recently teamed up with Fashion designer Marc Jacobs in an awareness campaign for The Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group at New York University. Hmm… Another act of exhibition or chic concern? Still, I think it looks good.

Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2008 A Bomb?

Everyone has been criticizing Marc's latest signature collection. Many complained that the show started unfashionably late (approx. 2 hours late). Hilary Alexander from the Daily Telegraph was incredibly unamused and claimed that "...if I was not working for the Daily Telegraph, I would not be here." (Then huffing and puffing away into the crowd) Anna Wintour was also unswayed claiming that Marc has a big corporation behind him and that starting an industry show that late was simply uncouth. When the show finally began he played with time by starting his show backwards. I personally disliked everything and was really disappointed but The Marc by Marc collection was fabulous.
