Beauty Buzz | Laura Geller Lip and Eye Spackle

I love bright makeup and we all know that the only way to get the full effect of pigmented shadows and lipsticks is to have a great base. Laura Geller Lip & Eye Spackle is a new favorite base of mine because of its lightweight formula that offers great coverage. It comes in a convenient little pot with Lip Spackle on top and Eye Spackle on the bottom. My lips have a lot of color to them and I love to wear nude lipsticks. I tackle this dilemma by first applying a thin layer of Lip Spackle then apply my favorite lip liner, "Subculture" by MAC and then I brush on a little Makeup Forever HD translucent powder and top off with whatever lipstick I choose for the day. It seems complicated but it's very effective in giving me the true colors I adore.

On The Runway: Red Lips At J Mendel FW09

The reign of the nude lip is finally over and I couldn't be happier. I personally have been experementing with different lip colors especially red. Pigmented lipsticks in a rich shade of red will instantly elevate your look. (Photo by Michael Buckner/Getty Images North America)

My Latest Buys From Sephora

I have a major shopping problem. No let me rephrase, I am being a good citizen and helping out our economy and in the process I'm looking absolutely fabulous. I had a long list of products I wanted to try but either forgot about or never came across to buying. These products have become new favorites and things that won't be on the bottom of my list from now on.
I love a great cocktail, and nothing wakes me up more in the morning than a steamy shower and a margarita. Okay so that's a bit unrealistic but at least you can smell like one at 7am and still make it to work without all the drama. What's great about Philosophy's shower gels are that they act as a shampoo and body wash which is great if you're in a hurry. Plus I like to buy the full size bath gels which last at the least, 3 months, no joke. Last but not least the best thing is the scent that lasts all day long.

I've found the love of my life but I'm still searching for the perfect lip color. A color that I really do like is Roman Holiday by NARS. It's a beautiful baby pink that works with all skin tones. It's a nice way to get an au natural look without compromising feminity. The velvet matte lipliner is great because it give your lips a brush of color and lasts. I also picked up the lipstick but to be honest it's extreamly sheer compared to my other NARS colors like Funny Face and Schiap and I wouldn't buy it again but the liner is a keeper. I'm a huge fan of Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer potion but I had to try the new one in "Sin". It's absolutely gorgeous and you can wear it alone or as a base for your sparkly champagne, pink and baby blue shadows. What sets this version apart from it's sister is that fact that it has shimmer flecks which is great if you love shimmery shadows like I do.
I don't know why I even bothered to purchase the Bare Escentuals starter kit seeing as it's only worth it if you have a flawless complexion and want to look airbrushed. I need heavier coverage and this was just a waste but I do like to use the powders for finishing my liquid foundation. I also like the fact that they are waterproof and natural but that's about it. Save this for when you want a natural look and for me that is never.

Vincent Longo Spring 2008

My love affair with Vincent Longo cosmetics started when I discovered their creamy lipsticks a few years ago. I had always associated Vincent Longo with classic Italian luxury and I also now depend on Vincent Longo to give me make-up looks that are ahead of the pack as well as classy and sophisticated all at the same time. The products are of amazing quality and last for hours after application and the colors are rich and chic. I am very excited about showcasing Vincent Longo's latest C-Scope collection launched for SS08 which I adore. The colors are vibrant and so outrageously rich. From the vibrant blue mascara with matching vibrant liners, to the ultra shiny and ultra glamourous lip vinyl. Here are my favorite products as well as the colors I recommend all available at Sephora. Goda Di. beauty

Cologne, A Man's Essential

Cologne is an essential element to all men and should be used in conjunction with your daily hygienic regimen. I'm sure every man, before going out on the town, has applied cologne not knowing that he just sprayed his worst nightmare for everyone to remember. Finding the right cologne can be very simple. It is the scent that's sexy, not cheap, manly, not Brut, and powerful but not pungent. Keep in mind that cologne can be viewed at as an accessory, making the look complete.

Here are some helpful tips to guide your search for the right cologne:
  • -Never buy cologne just because it smells good on someone else. Cologne interacts with skin differently depending on the texture. Oily skin tends to interact with cologne causing the scent to because stronger and longer lasting. Dry skin absorbs cologne causing re-application often. Melanin in the skin has an effect on scent. Darker skin tends to make fragrances smell a bit sweeter.

  • When smelling cologne for the first time, remember the three scent levels. High is the level of the cologne when first applied, which is the first impression. Waiting 10 to 15 minutes and smell again, the cologne has reached mid level. Low is the most important level in smelling cologne. After one hour, smell the area again, now the scent has absorbed and mixed with your skin. This is when you determine if this cologne is right for you.

  • Buy more than one brand of cologne. Just like shoes...you need more then one scent! It’s good to have at the very least, three different types.

Here are some brilliant colognes to help in your search:

Cartier

Dior

Giorgio Armani

Prada

Issey Miyake
Dolce & Gabbana

-Chavo Killingsworth
